Donald Trump is president
He’ll make America great again
He promised, he threatened to build a great wall
Don’t worry, don’t fret cause

Mexico will pay for it all
Mass deportations must take place
Disappearing-immigrants-without-a-trace
Replacing each brown with a white face

Make America white again!

No longer must we be P.C.
Our speech is now unchained and free
Rape culture and race jokes are so very cool
It’s time for straight white men

To remember they’re the ones who rule
Rude and crude is what we are
We celebrate it near and far
Victory in the culture war

Make America cruel again!

All hail strongman Donald Trump
As cozy as a cancer lump
All data of Muslims, he’ll keep on a list
He’ll know where to find them

Just-in-case-they-try-to-protest
And if they fled from civil wars
To them he will shut our doors
Return them to the blood and gore

Make America white again!

Now that Trump is president
We wonder where our troubles went
Climate change is a hoax from China he thinks
Those scientists are dummies

He bellows with a stinky wink
And Sarah Palin’s the energy wonk
Don’t count on her to drain the swamp
Drill Baby Drill’s her only song

Make the Earth unlivable!

As a Real He-Man, Donald Trump
Gets to grab just what he wants
If women don’t like it
They’d better shut up

They’re here for his pleasure
Not to lift their own lives up
No more abortion right to choose
Who cares if men, their wives abuse
Get ready, all your rights to lose

We want total patriarchy again!

But if to you the good old days
Feel more like a foul disgrace
Raise your voice in protest
And do not wait

If all join together
We won’t have to accept this fate
We must let the whole world know
That Donald Trump will have to go
Put an end to his hate crime show

Make America great…..for……..all!!!

Let’s hear it for HB2,

Protecting me and you;

Now you won’t have to fear

That anyone queer

Will be peeing next to you.

Let’s hear it for HB2,

And the bigots who voted it through;

Now you all must prove

When your bowels move

That you know just who is who.

So check the sign on the door
And then do something more,
Prove your sex
To the old rednecks

Who voted for this law.
With five minutes to decide,

They set gay rights aside;

And bigotry

Has been set free,
But we still have our pride.

And there’s one thing we all know.

As we did to old Jim Crow:
Again and again
We’ll fight ’til we win!

HB2 has got to go!

WE’RE the Raging Grannies and we’re here to take a stand,
To KEEP choice free for women and to keep our families planned.
We WON’T go back to hangers if our right to choose is banned.
We RAGE for women’s lives.

CHORUS: NO more dying in back alleys.
WE’LL keep raging in these rallies
UnTIL we stop these crazy schemes against Planned Parenthood;
We RAGE for women’s lives.

We STAND here [on the street] and wonder at the sad disgrace
That the RIGHTS for which we fought might disappear without a trace.
So we STAND now with Planned Parenthood to save the human race.
We RAGE for women’s lives.

We’ve COME here to [this rally] and it’s not just for the sport,
To TELL the world that we must keep the rights for which we fought,
The RIGHT to plan our families and the freedom to abort.
We RAGE for women’s lives.
REPEAT CHORUS

We WON’T lie down and take it if they make these budget cuts
While they SPEND our taxes for their wars; we think that’s really nuts!
It’s TIME to tell the world there can’t be any ifs or buts,
We NEED Planned Parenthood!
REPEAT CHORUS

We’ll remember in November
When we vote, as well we should,
How you tried to regulate us
And to kill Planned Parenthood.

We fought hard for women’s ri-ights
And we won’t go back in time.
Keep abortion free and legal;
It’s our choice – it’s not a crime.

You men in office think you own us
But our bodies belong to us.
Keep your laws off my vagina;
You have no bus’ness in my uterus.

You would keep us in the kitchen,
Barefoot and pregnant, too.
But we’ll remember in November
And vote you out! Your time is through!

Oh, Planned Parenthood, what they do is good
For women’s health and women’s choice.
So this time we’re getting organized;
We rise together with one voice.

And we’ll remember in November
When we vote, as well we should.
We will vote you out of office
And we’ll save Planned Parenthood.

I’m a corporation
And I believe in god
That doesn’t mean I have to do
Anything that’s hard

Like having safe workplaces
For my employees
Or making sure my waste products
Don’t kill all the trees

Though I’m a legal fiction
My immortal soul
Will surely go to hell if I
Cover birth control

Whether they are Hindu
A Jew or atheist
All my female workers
Must submit to this

Corporate Christians can both
Have and eat our cake
Control employees’ private lives
While they work without a break

Post-birth human beings
Have no right to life
But the new corporate life form
Will never ever die!

I’m a single mom of three
Their dad died “accidentally”
On the job in construc….tion
Now all three need counseling
Their school said try a private shrink
There’s been a budget reduc…tion
One’s cutting school, and another gets drunk
And the youngest just stays home and weeps
I have to work to pay the rent
So I’m home mostly when they’re sleep….ing  [anticipate]

There’s not enough food
Even with my three jobs
I try not to be rude [anticipate]
But it’s food stamps or we starve

Wendy’s, Walmart and Burger King
Are my employers
The wages that they’re paying
Make them my exploiters

Neighbors whisper that I’m
Not much of a mother
Some say it is time [anticipate]
To place my kids with another

All my life I tried and tried
To do what you’re supposed to
Now I’m stuck in this plight
This is what I’m reduced to

Being poor
Isn’t a crime
Turning your backs
That’s the REAL crime!

We’re the Raging Grannies and we’re here to take a stand,
To break the chain of our abuse across this mighty land.
We proclaim our dignity, and justice our demand…
We’re Rising Up today!

Chorus:   No more rape and no more beatings.
Women rise! We're tired of pleading.
We’re rising up to tell you that our bodies are our own;
We’re Rising Up today!

We rise in [name your town] today to say it’s a disgrace
That women’s rights might simply disappear without a trace.
We dance and sing and shout out loud to save the human race!
We’re Rising Up today!

Repeat Chorus

What makes you men think you can take your liberties with us?
We're mothers, sisters, aunts and daughters, kickin' up a fuss.
Your violations end today, there's no more to discuss!
We’re Rising Up today!

Repeat Chorus

We dance today for justice, and it’s not just for the sport.
We own our bodies; we’ll protect the rights for which we fought...
The right to step out unafraid; the freedom to abort.
We’re Rising Up today!

Repeat Chorus

We’re the Raging Grannies and we’re here to take a stand,
To keep choice free for women all across our mighty land.
We won’t go back to hangers if our right to choose is banned!
We’re Rising Up today!

Chorus:   No more rape and no more beatings.
Women rise! We're tired of pleading.
We’re rising up to tell you that our bodies are our own;
We’re Rising Up today!

We stand here in [name your city] and wonder at the sad disgrace
That women’s rights might simply disappear without a trace.
We dance and sing and shout out loud to save the human race!
We’re Rising Up today!
Repeat Chorus

What makes you think that you can take your liberties with us?
We're mothers, sisters, aunts and daughters, kickin' up a fuss.
Your violations end today, there's no more to discuss!
We’re Rising Up today!
Repeat Chorus

We dance today for justice, and it’s not just for the sport.
We own our bodies; we’ll protect the rights for which we fought...
The right to step out unafraid; the freedom to abort.
We’re Rising Up today!
Repeat Chorus

Getting to know them
Getting to know all about them
Getting to wish we’d never heard of their name
They say they’re a “party” but this party’s no fun
There are so many frightening things
That the Tea Party brings
To our world!

Denial of science,
Like legitimate rapists
Who can’t make a baby, if gals would only resist
And planetwide warming’s a fantasy of Al  Gore’s
And lots of others, too many to note
They keep trying to shove down our throats
There’s no way!

What can we do now
With our terrible knowledge
Stand up and protest, like never before
Like Occupy Wall Street, Arab Spring, and Wisconsin
Let’s use our First Amendment rights
Or else watch them vanish from sight
Now’s the time!

Women, females, ladies, little girls
All have those nasty lady parts
Ovaries, vaginas, uteri
This song’s not for the faint of heart!

Republicans from Michigan
We can make them twitch again
Scratch their funky itch again
Here it comes!

Now we’re gonna sing that dirty word
We’re gonna sing it loud and clear
Vagina vagina vagina
Did we offend some virgin ears?

Republicans from Michigan
We just made them twitch again
They scratched their icky itch again
That was fun!

This war on women’s rights is serious
We’ll fight it to the very end
But while we rage we’ve gotta have some laughs
So we’ll sing vagina once again

Republicans from anywhere
Are you securely in your chair?
Though you think it isn’t fair
[shout] VAGINA!

“Legitimate rape” is great birth control.
So says Todd Akin, and he oughta know.
If we are raped we can rest unafraid,
‘Cause we can’t get pregnant if forcibly laid.

Our female bodies are clever that way,
We only get pregnant when we say “okay.”
Doctors have told him, so it must be so,
The stork only comes if we don’t say “No!”

Rape won’t make babies and that is a fact;
There’s no global warming; the Earth’s really flat.
We heard it on FOX News so it must be true.
Well, Mr. Akin, we say “FUCK YOU!”

Dom, dom, dom de dubie dom

We Rage to End All War [Mother’s Day Version 2011]
(Tune: “Battle Hymn of the Republic”)
New lyrics by Vicki Ryder

We’re the Raging Grannies and we want you all to know
That war is not the way to peace and we must all say NO!
We’ve seen it time and time again – war’s not the way to go!
We rage to end all war!

Chorus:
Happy Mother’s Day to all you Grannies,
Here’s hoping that you’ll get up off your fannies,
And join us on this day as we proclaim with all our might:
It’s time to end all war!

We put away our knitting, tuck the grandkids into bed,
Throw on our shawls and aprons, put our hats upon our heads.
Inspired by the suffragists, we do not lightly tread,
We rage to end all war!

Chorus

They took our sons and daughters and they sent them off to die;
Said we had to kill Osama ’though those weapons were a lie.
Now some other mother bids her child a tearful last good-bye.
We rage to end all war!

Chorus

They want to take our Medicare, our schools and parks and more,
So they’ll have the money that they need to keep on makin’ war.
We’re here to say on Mother’s Day that really makes us sore!
We rage to end all war!

Chorus

In late March 2011, Florida State Rep. Scott Randolph (D-Orlando) commented during a floor debate that while the GOP is loathe to regulate big business, it thinks nothing of regulating a woman's reproductive choices. Therefore, he suggested that to maintain control of her own uterus, a woman might need to incorporate it.  Randolph was quickly rebuked by his GOP counterparts for saying “u-----” on the House floor, and the word now has been banned from use in the Florida legislature. The Florida ACLU is hot on the case.

The Uterus Song
(Tune: “Bye-Bye Blackbird”)
Lyrics © by Vicki Ryder

If you’re a Republican, it’s okay to screw everyone,
Just don’t say “uterus!”
You can send our kids to war while watching your investments soar,
But don’t say “uterus!”
Taking bribes used to be thought just awful;
Now fat cats pay for your campaigns, that’s lawful…
You can take our rights away and torture folks, that’s still okay.
Just don’t say… that word.

You take funds from Planned Parenthood; you’d take all our rights if ya could,
But don’t say “uterus!”
You think abortion is a sin, but what’s that fetus growin’ in?
Shh! Don’t say uterus!
You can get away with bloody torture,
Just don’t say where you were when the stork brought ya.
We’re glad you’re lookin’ out for us, so stamp your feet and make a fuss
When you hear… that word!

Since when is it a dirty word to say the “u” word? That’s absurd!
We’ll say “uterus.”
We’ll sing it strong and sing it loud; it’s a part of us that makes us proud
So we’ll say “uterus.”
We’re not ashamed to call our parts their right names,
We’re just ashamed of men who play these mind games.
So end the wars and feed the poor; do what you were elected for,
And shout out loud… that word!

Uterus and uterus, and uterus and uterus, uterus, uterus!
Uterus and uterus, and uterus and uterus, uterus, uterus!
Uterus and uterus.....

I wrote this song after hearing about what happened to Lauren Valle, the young woman who had her head intentionally stomped on after being wrestled to the ground by a group of men for protesting against Rand Paul at a rally in Kentucky. To make matters even worse, the yahoo who stomped on her head now wants LAUREN to apologize, claiming that she provoked him. Where have we heard that before?  It's getting REALLY ugly out there!!!

CHORUS:

You can’t stomp on,  you can’t stomp on, you can’t stomp on me!
We still have rights and we will fight ’til everyone is free.
Oh, you can’t stomp on,  you can’t stomp on, you can’t stomp on me!
We still have rights and we will fight for human dignity.

We have the right to speak and demonstrate, it’s true.
And we will not be stopped by bully thugs like you!
We won’t apologize or take back what we say.
We’ll speak our minds but we’ll be kind… non-violence is the way.

[REPEAT CHORUS]

In these United States, there’s room enough for all:
The young, the old, the straight and gay, and immigrants short and tall.
We’ll keep on speaking out for civil rights and peace,
But we will not be stomped upon! This violence must cease!

[REPEAT CHORUS]

We go here, we go there,

We go almost anywhere,

Raging Grannies go rolling along.

Some on foot, some in chairs,

Canes and walkers do their share,

Raging Grannies go rolling along.

Give us more access!

We can't stand for less.

Enforce the ADA is our song

MORE RAMPS!

Try to keep us out,

And you will hear us shout:

Raging Grannies keep rolling along!

Note: I think of this as the marching song of Raging Grannies WOWW. The ADA is Americans with Disabilities Act. Among the goals is making buildings, streets, and public transportation accessible for those with mobility challenges.

Women are changeable;
We want equality;
We want our choices free;
On this we all agree.

Women are changeable;
And this world needs a change;
We’ll all try to arrange
To change the world.

CHORUS

Civil rights must prevail
For every male and female;
Poverty must go;
Let’s make it so.

Ahhhhh
Let’s make it so.
Women are powerful;
Let’s make new policy;
Let’s keep abortion free,
With full legality.

Women are powerful;
And we will take a stand;
Peace must be our demand;
Bring our troops home.

CHORUS

Civil rights must prevail
For every male and female
Poverty must go;
Let’s make it so.

Ahhhhh
Let’s make it so.

Ahhhhh
Let’s make it so.

We are mighty women everywhere both far and wide
We must now all come together like a giant ocean tide
No more fighting, no more strife upon this wondrous planet earth
We want to live in peace.

Chorus
No more wars upon this planet
No more wars upon this space
We must learn to leve together
One family one human race.

We don't want our children to be taught to fight and harm
We will work incessantly to cause all nations to disarm
War has never been the answer, it has only brought us harm,
We want to live in peace.

Chorus

Womyn know so well that love can always make amends
Love can change our enemies and make them into our friends
Now's the time to come together and proclaim a better way,
We want to live in peace.

Chorus

Everybody has a body
Comin’ through the door
Here’s a question ‘bout a body
What’s a body for?
I’m the one inside my body
I know how I feel
It’s health and strength and joy in life that
Make my body real.
Leave your Botox in the box
Your silly, silly –cone
I can lift my face with smiles
You leave my bod alone!
My friends come in lots of bodies
Varied in design
Oh bless the day you love your body
Just like I love mine!

(wearing back-to-front baseball caps or hoodies and untied sneakers and baggies)
WE’RE REBEL RAGING GRANNIES AND WE’RE REALLY REALLY COOL.
WE DON’T GIVE A DAMN FOR ANY ICKY-PICKY RULE.
WE MIGHT BE OVER EIGHTY. WE MIGHT BE IN OUR TEENS.
WE BET YOU CAN’T TELL WHEN WE’RE WEARING OUR JEANS.
MAYBE WE’VE NO GRANDKIDS, MAYBE WE’VE GOT TEN.
WE MIGHT BE SQUARE OR GAY. WE MIGHT EVEN BE MEN.

WE DON’T DO APRONS AND WE DON’T DO BONNETS.
WE THINK LACE WENT OUT ALONG WITH THOSE SONNETS.
WE WEAR WHAT WE LIKE AND WE LIKE WHAT WE WEAR.
WE MIGHT HAVE CURLERS OR SPIKES IN OUR HAIR.
IF YOU’RE INTO FLOWERS, WE THINK THAT’S FINE,
BUT DON’T EXPECT US TO TOE YOUR LINE.

WE WON’T BUST OUR HEADS DEFINING OUR MISSION
OR TRYING TO GET A UNIFIED POSITION.
WE WANT TO MAKE WAVES, WE WANT TO KICK ASS
AND NOBODY’S GOING TO TELL US TO GET OFF THE GRASS.
TO BE A RAGING GRANNY IS AN ATTITUDE
IF YOU’VE GOT IT, FLAUNT IT, YOU’RE OUR KIND OF DUDE.

AT THE GATES OF HEAVEN,
SAINT PETER’S SAYING HIS PRAYERS.
AGING RAGING GRANNIES
ARE PRESSING UP THOSE STAIRS.
WILL THEY SETTLE PEACEFULLY
PRACTISING THEIR HARPS,
GRANNIES WHO WOULD MURDER
ANY SONG WITH FLATS AND SHARPS.
WILL THEY FIND ETERNITY
IS TOO MUCH ENDLESS BLISS,
WITH NOT ONE POLITICIAN
TO BOO AT OR TO HISS?

THE OTHER DESTINATION
SOUNDS A BIT TOO HOT.
WE MAY HAVE CAUSED SOME TROUBLE
BUT WE HAVEN’T SINNED A LOT.
AS FOR COMING BACK SOME DAY
TO REINCARNATE -
LIVING AS A COCKROACH ISN’T
AN APPEALING FATE.
BURN US UP OR BURY US
ONE THING WE KNOW FOR SURE -
RAGING GRANNY BONES WILL
MAKE A FINE MANURE.

WE NEVER WILL FORGET
GRANDMA WAS A SUFFRAGETTE.
WE'RE FIGHTING STILL FOR WOMEN'S RIGHTS
AND WE AIN'T GOT THEM YET.

BUT WE WON'T SIT AND SIGH,
BURST INTO TEARS AND CRY.
THE WORLD WON'T CHANGE WITHOUT US
'CAUSE WE HOLD UP HALF THE SKY.

WHEN YOU WANT THINGS CHANGED, CALL IN YOUR SISTERS,
AND TELL THE MEN THEY'RE WELCOME TO ASSIST US.
THERE'S NO POWER ON EARTH THAT CAN RESIST US
'CAUSE WE HOLD UP HALF THE SKY.

Chorus:
We're the women who did the work
so men could get the credit.
We said leave it all to us
and wished we'd never said it.

Leave the dishes in the sink.
you sit down and rest dear.
I can do the clearing up.
I can do it best dear.

Chorus:

No, I don't mind staying late.
I'll make that last correction,
no, I don’t want extra pay,
you deserve perfection.

Chorus:

I'm sorry that the baby cried.
I'm sorry she upset you.
I'm sorry she threw up on you.
I'm sorry that she wet you.

Chorus:

That was then, but this is now.
We’re wiser and we’re older.
Some might mellow as they age
but grannies just get bolder.

We're prepared to do the work
but we want more than credit.
Equal pay for equal work
we’ll sing until we get it.

Oh dear what can the matter be
Oh dear, what can the matter be,
We've been attacked by the forces of gravity.
Fat has appeared where we once had concavity,
Nobody said life was fair.

Older men become more adorable,
Even though their figure's deplorable,
Their physique is always insurable,
With or without their gray hair.

(kazoo repeat of last line)

Older women are thought unattractive,
They're shunned as if they were radioactive,
They jiggle so, when they become active -
It's back to that old rocking chair.

Well, these grey mares, we ain't what we used to be,
We've given up on respectability,
Don't give a fig for acceptability,
We're far too awesome to care.
(kazoo repeat of last line)

There was a time not long ago, it’s sad but true,
Women were kept from voting booths, they couldn’t get through.
Women were governed by men in their lives;
Gave up their property when they became wives
Until some stood up ‘cause change was overdue.

In eighteen hundred and seventy-two, Hooray! Hooray!
Susan B. knew what to do, Hooray! Hooray!
She marched down Main Street in Rochester
Marked a ballot and caused a stir,
And we all thank Susan for making a fuss that day.

The struggle went on for many a year for me and you.
Women had to persevere but they came through!
Lucretia Mott and Matilda Gage,
Amelia Bloomer... how they did rage!
And we all thank them for working for me and you.

But what have we done with the rights they won for me and you?
Do we vote? Hold office? Make them proud? Do you? And you?
Do we stand up strong and speak our minds
The way Susan B. Anth’ny used to do?
When she cast her vote ‘cause change was overdue.

It’s many a year that Susan B’s been dead and gone,
But all of us who treasure justice must fight on,
For the sake of all who are under-served
‘Cause freedom’s a right that we all deserve
So we’ll work and rage, then pass her torch along.

TRUE STORIES ALL - A Talking Song
CHORUS
O Go tell it in the classroom
Straight out to the kids, they need to know
Go tell it in the classroom
Safe sex - the only way to go!
1) The first time I got pregnant (Oh?)
I was just seventeen (She wasn't ready)
But I didn't know what caused it (Whatta WASTE!)
So it happened once again (She didn't know)
CHORUS
2) I was thirteen the first time (Lots start then)
I had a baby boy (You were BOTH kids)
And then I had another (Didn't the guy know?)
They weren't a lot of joy! (You had no money)
CHORUS
3) If somebody had told me (Books don't do it)
The real facts of sex (so you could question)
I would've had a chance to live (Disease, it got you)
The life that others live (She need info)
CHORUS
4) Disease is all around us (Let's fight it)
Hormones make sex seem fine (Deaf to reason)
Abstinence seldom happens (Raging hormones)
So let's learn to walk that line (You can keep safe)
CHORUS

*it is important to know that safe sex isn't just condoms. Healthy attitudes towards sex and the ability to improvise for the elderly and disabled, all play a role in this important part of life.

CHORUS
There are many good kinds of sex out there
And the safe ones the only kind for me
All the love in the world cannot help you
If you love whom you love, carelessly!

1) There are hand jobs and blow jobs, positions
Who's on top? who's on first, who's with me?
Just as long as the proper precautions
Keep me safe from disease and pregnancy!
CHORUS
2) O sex is both healthy and normal
Hormones make me get hungry for more
But first I'll take charge of what happens
Before that first knock upon my door
CHORUS
3) O I dream of the one I am loving
How we two can express all we feel
I'll learn just how to satisfy, safely
Then I'll know, that with us, all is well

1) O you think about romance
O you think about love
Then your brain goes ga-ga
And your mind turns mauve
So before it gets heavy
Think about what's next
Think about a little condom
If you're thinking sex
CHORUS
Bye bye fear
Bye bye circumstance
Hello, I'm in charge
Not takin' a stupid chance
I'm usin' my commonsense
2) O he doesn't want a condom
To express his love
And he knows nothing will happen
'Cause you're so in love
Just show him where the door is
'Cause it just ain't right
When it's you'll have the baby
Him that's out all night
CHORUS
3) In the old days, babies
Burdened young lives down
Before they were ready
To settle down
But now, see, with condoms
No need to fear
Safe sex is the best sex
They've invented, dear
CHORUS
3) So you say you wanna travel
Go and see the world
O you wanna do great things
All the tales you've heard
If you've gotta little condom
Other sex tips how
You can build yourself a great life
and it starts right now!
CHORUS

Here’s a song for all you mothers,
And you sisters and you brothers,
Aunts and uncles, all you others,
Happy Mother’s Day to you!

Mothers should not raise their sons
To play with war toys or with guns.
Killing’s sad for everyone!
Happy Mother’s Day to you!

There are mothers in Iraq
Who wish they had their children back,
But now they mourn and dress in black.
Happy Mother’s Day to you!

We are here to sing of peace
And hope that wars forever cease.
Let us not be led like geese.
Happy Mother’s Day to you!

One billion, two billion, three billion dollars,
Wasted on war if we don’t holler:
“You can go but we won’t follow!”
Happy Mother’s Day to you!

As mothers we must show the way,
So let us pledge on this great day:
From the path of peace we will not stray!
Happy Mother’s Day to you!
