The last day of school and the children were fine,
just itching to play in the summer sunshine
But then all went dark and the blood ran like wine

His battlefield gun, he took time to load
with hollow-tipped rounds that make bodies explode
And what he was thinking, we never will know
But Republicans stand with the killer

That day in Uvalde, the noise shook the ground
and people all over the earth turned around
For no one recalled a more cowardly sound
As Republicans stood with the killer

Our innocent darlings, our daughters and sons
are prey to the psychos who hunt them with guns
Like fish in a barrel, they’ve nowhere to run
And Republicans stand with the killers

Greg Abbott and Cruz and the whole GOP
would sacrifice children so gun nuts are ”free”
and so they enable the next killing spree
For they shamelessly stand with the killers

We cherish our children, we want them to thrive,
to learn and to grow, to create and to strive
Though most of us stand for protecting young lives,
still Republicans stand for the killers
