Did you ever think you’d see the day,
Did you think there’d come a time,
When peaceful protest in the street
Would be treated as a crime;
When a nation claiming freedom
And the right to think and speak,
Would be brought down by a fascist coup
That attacks the poor and weak?

First they came for college students
And for labor unions, too;
Then they came for foreign immigrants
Workin’ hard to make it through.  
And they’re coming for the journalists
And for all who dare speak out
Against the bigots and the billionaires,
And that’s why we rage and shout.

Now they’re making war on you and me
Grabbing people off the streets
While ICE enforcers armed and masked
Are grabbing families while they sleep.
So we Grannies sing as we demand
They call off their brutal teams,
We, the people claim our power now
And we’ll stop their fascist schemes.
