Note: originally written as ‘O Lovely City, Madison’ — I made it generic for use by other gaggles.
O lovely city, our sweet home
Your golde-en promise gleams;
Your city lights so clear and bright
Encoura-age hopes and dreams.
Yet in your streets are sleeping
The homeless and the poor —
Shiv’ring with cold and fears untold
They must not be ignored!
For we’re one human fam-i-ly
And canno-ot look away
Harm done to one hurts ev’ryone
Our work be-egins today!
O may each winter morning
Proclaim a new rebirth —
Justice and opportu-ni-ty
With peace to all on earth!
